It is also open to members of the public to bring to the attention of the Authority individual threatened buildings. This emergency procedure is known as "spot" listing. If the Authority believes that a building has attributes that would normally make it a candidate for listing then an order can be served to stop any work being undertaken. Certificates of Immunity from Listing are available to developers which believe that such an order could have severe financial implications if served at a late stage.
